A healthy school lunch helps every child learn, grow and thrive. While all primary school children in London currently receive a free meal, the funding schools receive does not cover the full cost, leaving Gillespie to make up the shortfall from its own budget. Having shared more information in our recent email, we are now asking our school community to come together and help.
Your financial support will help protect valuable school resources and ensure we can continue providing the best possible experience for all our children.

FULL PLATES FUND
At Gillespie School, every primary child can enjoy a free school lunch - a fantastic provision that saves families around £55 per month per child. However, funding restrictions mean that Gillespie funds part of these costs out of its own budget!
By donating, families can help bridge this funding gap, allowing the school to spend much more on improving the education and opportunities for the children. Your support helps fund exciting opportunities such as an artist in residence, upgrading classroom IT, and other experiences that bring learning to life.
If you’re able to donate, here’s an idea of what your contribution could support:
£55 per month
This covers the cost of your child’s school meals, enabling a truly impactful contribution in other areas of school life.
£75 per month
This covers the cost of your child’s school meals and contributes towards another child’s food. This makes a huge impact on funding for better education and opportunities.
£110 per month
This covers the cost of your child’s school meals AND those of a child who’s parents are not able to support financially. Be the ultimate School Lunch Champion.
How else can I support the Full Plates Fund if donating the full cost of school meals feels out of reach?
There are lots of ways to support this campaign.
Many families may choose to contribute a smaller regular gift, such as £25 per month, to help ensure Gillespie can continue providing the activities, experiences and opportunities our children love and families value. Every penny counts so please donate what you feel comfortable with.
If you send your child in with a packed lunch, remember to let the school know at least a week in advance, and to provide a packed lunch on the same day/s each week! This means the school is not covering the cost of a school meal that isn’t needed!
Finally, all and any time you can offer - from manning a stall at the fair to helping decorate the hall at halloween - helps us to raise vital funds for the children’s education.
